Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the 3000 acre Vantara Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre which focuses on the welfare of captive elephants and wildlife.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vantara in Gujarat will focus on animal rescue and conservation efforts and is scheduled to chair a meeting at the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday morning visited Vantara Animal Rescue Conservation and Rehabilitation Centre located in the greenbelt at Moti Khavdi Reliance Refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Vantara is spread over 3000 acres and is located in the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex. It is a rescue centre dedicated to the welfare of captive elephants and wildlife providing sanctuary rehabilitation and medical care to animals rescued from abuse and exploitation. The centre also works towards empowering communities by providing training in sustainable livelihoods and humane animal care practices.

The Vantara Animal Rescue Centre is home to more than 2000 animals of 43 species which are supported by advanced veterinary equipment, animals and a team of more than 2100 staff members who mimic natural habitats. Later, PM Narendra Modi will offer prayers at the Somnath temple in Gir Somnath district. He will then chair a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust that manages the famous place of worship. The PM is the chairman of the trust.
PM Modi arrived here on Saturday evening to attend a number of programmes during his Gujarat tour, including chairing a meeting of the National Board for Wildlife at Sasan Gir, the headquarters of the Gir wildlife sanctuary. After an overnight stay at Sasan, Modi will enjoy a jungle safari on Monday.

The Prime Minister will chair a meeting of the NBWL as its ex-officio chairman when Singh returns to the House. The NBWL has 47 members, including service heads, members from various states, representatives of NGOs working in the field, chief wildlife wardens and secretaries of various states. Officials said that after the meeting, Modi-Sassan will talk to some women employees.
