This sanctuary provides shelter to over 1.5 lakh animals, many of whom have been rescued from abuse and neglect.
Anant Ambani’s journey began with a small animal shelter he established in Mumbai.
This humble beginning showcases his genuine love and dedication to animal welfare. Today, his passion has grown into the world’s largest rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation center — Vantara. The project is developed by Reliance Industries in collaboration with the Reliance Foundation. For those unaware, Reliance Foundation, founded by Mukesh Ambani in 2010, is one of India’s largest non-profit organizations.

Anant Ambani has always viewed animals as soulful beings.
Inspired by his mother, Nita Ambani, he finds joy and purpose in animal protection. At just 12 years old, Anant took his first step toward wildlife conservation when he spotted an elephant limping painfully during a scorching summer. He told his mother he wanted to rescue the elephant. With her help, they saved the animal, marking the beginning of Anant’s lifelong conservation journey, which now includes protecting some of the world’s most endangered species.
His gradual yet conscious journey has today evolved into Vantara. Anant recalls that his father, Mukesh Ambani, is also among the greatest wildlife enthusiasts, reminiscing about their family vacations spent in wildlife sanctuaries and parks. He was also taught that caring for voiceless animals is among the noblest services one can offer, earning immense spiritual merit.
Built on Four Pillars
So far, Vantara has rescued over 2,000 species of animals.
This project is deeply rooted in the principles of innovation and sustainability. Anant’s dream is to show the world how displaced, endangered, and abandoned species can be treated and given a new life.
Vantara is built on four foundational pillars — Rescue, Rehabilitation, Revival, and Reforestation.
Each of these pillars plays a vital role in the sanctuary’s development. Vantara integrates cutting-edge veterinary care facilities, including MRI, ICU, X-ray, CT Scan, Ultrasound, and Endoscopy units, making it a lifelong safe haven for rescued animals.
Here at Vantara, every animal receives care, respect, and protection. Every year, hundreds of animals in India’s rural areas fall victim to accidents, conflicts, or human attacks. Many of them are captured or left abandoned. Vantara steps in to rescue and rehabilitate these creatures.
Its state-of-the-art ambulances travel to every corner of India and even to parts of the world to rescue captured or abandoned animals. Large cat species like lions, tigers, and leopards, once rescued, now roam freely under the expert supervision of veterinarians and wildlife specialists at Vantara.

Vantara has frequently partnered with local governments and NGOs to save wildlife.
However, its robust operations have expanded beyond national borders. It has collaborated with global organizations like the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
