Vantara: MP Wildlife Rescue Centres are all set to become a reality, as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced plans to establish modern wildlife rescue centres, veterinary courses, and animal hospitals across the state. Taking inspiration from the renowned Vantara project in Gujarat, this initiative reflects the state government’s serious commitment towards wildlife protection and conservation.

CM Mohan Yadav Visits Vantara in Gujarat

On June 11, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited Vantara, the state-of-the-art animal welfare centre developed by Reliance Group in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This facility is known to be the dream project of Anant Mukesh Ambani, focused on wildlife rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation.

After his visit, CM Mohan Yadav announced that Madhya Pradesh would replicate the Vantara model by setting up similar Wildlife Rescue Centres in MP. He mentioned that while he has conducted an initial inspection, a dedicated team from the MP Forest Department will soon visit Vantara for a detailed study.

“A Golden Era for India” – CM Yadav on PM Modi’s Leadership

Speaking to the media in Jamnagar, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating, “This is a golden period for India. The milestones achieved under PM Modi’s leadership were long awaited and have brought pride to the entire nation.”

MP Leads in Wildlife Diversity

According to CM Yadav, Madhya Pradesh is home to some of the richest forest cover and wildlife diversity in India. The state boasts the highest population of tigers, leopards, and vultures in the country. It is also home to crocodiles and gharials in its rivers and wetlands.

Recognizing this biodiversity, CM Yadav emphasized the urgent need for establishing multiple MP Wildlife Rescue Centres at the divisional level to provide quick, localised treatment for injured or sick animals.

Existing Facility in Bhopal Insufficient

At present, the only operational wildlife rescue centre in MP is located in Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal. Animals from all across the state are brought here for treatment, but the change in climate and habitat often poses difficulties for their recovery. To overcome this, the government has decided to open rescue centres in each division so that animals can be cared for in familiar surroundings.

Government to Expand Number of Zoos

CM Yadav also revealed that the state government is planning to increase the number of zoological parks. Two new zoos have already received budget approval. He noted that Gujarat currently has the country’s best rescue and zoo facilities, and MP will adopt a similar approach to elevate its own infrastructure.

Wildlife Exchange and Rehabilitation Initiatives

The Chief Minister said the purpose of his visit was to study Gujarat’s successful model for wildlife care. He plans to explore opportunities for inter-state wildlife exchange and deeper collaboration in wildlife research and rescue. These efforts will help ensure the long-term survival and well-being of endangered species.
